Everything you wanted to know about phase and reference frequency in one- and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy
2019
The fundamental concept of phase discussed in this tutorial aimed at providing students with an explanation of the delays and processing parameters they may find in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) pulse programs. We consider the phase of radio-frequency pulses, receiver, and magnetization and how all these parameters are related to phases and offsets of signals in spectra. The impact of the off-resonance effect on the phase of the magnetization is discussed before presenting an overview of how adjustment of the time reference of the free induction decay avoids first-order correction of the phase of spectra. The main objective of this tutorial is to show how the relative phase of a pulse an…
On the spectral moments of non-WSSUS mobile-to mobile double-Rayleigh fading channels
2017
This paper deals with the mathematical analysis of the spectral moments of non-wide-sensestationary uncorrelated-scattering (non-WSSUS) mobile-to-mobile (M2M) double-Rayleigh fading channels. The point of departure is a recently proposed geometry-based statistical model (GBSM) for M2M double-Rayleigh fading channels from which general analytical expressions are derived for the average Doppler shift, Doppler spread, average delay, and delay spread. Closed-form solutions of such expressions are presented for the particular case of the geometrical two-rings scattering model. The obtained results indicate that the average Doppler shift and Doppler spread are directly influenced by not only the …
Design of an efficient digital down-converter for a SDR-based DVB-S receiver
2007
This paper presents the design of an area-power efficient digital down-converter suitable for broadband communication systems. The DVB-S standard has been used as a design example. It has been shown that by selecting a bandpass sampling to generate only one spectral image, the case in which the relationship between the digital carrier frequency and the sampling frequency is 1/4, not only gives the smallest area but the lowest power consumption.
A Robust and Simple Measure for Quality-Guided 2D Phase Unwrapping Algorithms
2016
Quality-based 2D phase unwrapping algorithms provide one of the best tradeoffs between speed and quality of results. Their robustness depends on a quality map, which is used to build a path that visits the most reliable pixels first. Unwrapping then proceeds along this path, delaying unwrapping of noisy and inconsistent areas until the end, so that the unwrapping errors remain local. We propose a novel quality measure that is consistent, technically sound, effective, fast to compute, and immune to the presence of a carrier signal. The new measure combines the benefits of both the quality-guided and the residue-based phase unwrapping approaches. The quality map is justified from the two diff…
Wireless Internet. 8th International Conference, WICON 2014, Lisbon, Portugal, November 13-14, 2014, Revised Selected Papers
2015
In this paper, the influence and improvement of the localization accuracy achieved using a fingerprint database with information coming from different channels and radio signal strength levels is evaluated. This study uses IEEE 802.15.4 networks with different power levels and carrier frequency channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Experimental results show that selecting part of this information with a cleverer data processing can provide similar or better localization accuracy than using the whole database.
